As your skill improves, you can also combine them with rails, boxes, and other types of bigger ramps.

Launch Skateboard Ramps

Also known as “kicker ramps”, launch ramps are the most basic types of ramps. They look more like wedge ramps, however, they are more concave. They are designed to provide you with more air than a common inclined plane. They generally have a gradual slope.

This type of skateboard ramps lets you enjoy sufficient lift for moderate flip tricks. Launch skateboard ramps are also perfect for gap setups. This can allow you to do some tricks between two kickers over a gap.

Box jumps comprise of two launch skateboard ramps which are placed on two opposite sides. It includes a flat plane or surface in the center that links these two skateboard ramps together.

Most flatland skaters choose box jumps than other types of ramps since transition can be done easily. You can do flip tricks and manuals quickly on the same ramp. Skaters have the chance to chain together various trick combos.

Spines Skateboard Ramps

Spines are composed of two-quarter pipes which are placed back to back. It has slopes on both sides which can help a skater in changing from one side to the other while in midair or mid-trick. You won’t lose your momentum. This is very significant especially when you are in the middle of a run.

Quarter Pipes

Quarter pipes are a very common type of home skateboard ramp. Best of all, they are much cheaper. They are also available in different brands. Quarter pipes are typically made up of curved ramps. Skaters can grab some air while they are launched upwards.

Quarter pipes are great since they can provide you with a controlled space for grabbing some air. This is an excellent ramp for a transition grind. A perfect choice if you are doing quick grabs and other air tricks that needs focus and control.

Skaters prefer these types of ramps for quick grinds while they are in the middle of a run.

Vert Ramps for Skateboarding

Vert ramps may look the same with quarter pipes, however, they include an additional built at the top.  This extension is an assurance that a skater won’t cross over the edge of the ramp. With this type of ramp, you can safely land back on the angle where you launched from.

Half Pipes

Half pipes are formed when two pieces of quarter pipes are combined together. This is the best choice if you need a controlled space where you can consistently move back and forth between these 2 quarter pipes.

This will give you more speed, allows you to grab some air and give you the chance to do some tricks every time you are up on a side of the ramp. Half pipes are actually what comes to mind when people think of “skateboard ramps”.

Half pipes are a bit expensive, however, they are perfect for performing great tricks. They have the best size and flexibility.
